  12. What does the cemetery do for Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces?

Although we do not have a designated “section” for veterans at this time, we have over 700 veterans buried throughout the park. We keep detailed records of veteran burials and work with local groups to place flags on every grave twice a year. We also host the annual, community-wide Memorial Day Service on our grounds. We work with families to prepare and file the basic forms for obtaining a memorial bronze for each veteran (if desired). Out of honor and respect, we fly our flag at half-staff whenever a veteran is buried. Upon request, service branch flags will also be flown in honor of a deceased veteran.

  13. What happens if the Pre-Planning merchandise I purchase now is discontinued or not available later?

We strive to work with the best and most reliable manufacturers at all times. If the exact product purchased is no longer available, we are committed to providing merchandise that is equivalent or better. The family will be consulted before any change is made.

  14. Am I allowed to sell my cemetery property to a private party?

Yes. However, the property owner is responsible for advertising and setting the price. You may also give your spaces to other family members, donate them to a charitable organization. You may also keep them in your name and give someone else “permission to use” the space.

  15. Do you work with insurance policies to cover burial costs?

Yes, we do. However, substantial insurance verification must be done before property, service or merchandise will be rendered to a family when a death has occurred. Often this limits the timeliness of the service we can offer (especially on weekends). A better alternative is to make cemetery arrangements in advance of need using a Life Insurance policy assignment. Many Insurance Companies allow this.

  16. If I own property at another cemetery (say, out-of-state), can I transfer that property to Williamsburg Memorial Park?

Possibly. We are members of the ICCFA exchange program, but not all cemeteries are. There are some limits, but basically you‘ll get a dollar-for-dollar credit for whatever you purchased at the participating cemetery.

  17. Does this transfer program apply to mausoleum property also?

Yes, it does. And the transfer allowance for mausoleum property is generally higher than for traditional burial.
