Nothing is more important than the health and safety of our clients, visitors, and staff. This page will provide you with the latest information about operational changes, safety requirements, and COVID-19 funeral assistance.
Operational Changes
March 28, 2021—In an attempt to return to some semblance of normalcy, Governor Ralph Northam signed into effect Virginia Executive Order #79, officially lifting many of the social distancing, masks, and capacity restrictions imposed on individuals and businesses throughout the commonwealth. Much of this order relies on recommendations by the CDC, which we’ve linked below.
CDC Recommendations
As a result of Virginia Executive Order 79, which follows CDC recommendations, all fully vaccinated people will no longer be required to wear masks when visiting Williamsburg Memorial Park. However, the CDC is still recommending that unvaccinated people continue to wear masks, and practice physical distancing, in all public settings. To view the CDC’s new recommendations, please visit this web page.
Enhanced Cleaning Procedures
Per the CDC’s recommendations, we have increased the frequency of our cleaning procedures, which includes sanitizing surfaces with approved cleaners.
Community Events
Our annual Memorial Day Celebration celebration has been canceled for 2021, but we are committed to resuming other beneficial community programs this year, including our annual 1K Run, our Lunch-N-Learn program, and our Holiday Luminary.
Public Restrooms
Public restrooms are now open.
FEMA Funeral Assistance
April 15, 2021—If you’ve lost a loved one due to COVID-19, you may qualify for up to $9,000 in federal assistance for a single loved one and up to $35,500 for multiple COVID-19 deaths. These funds can be used to help cover the costs of your loved one’s funeral and cemetery expenses.
If you have someone who was recently cremated, but you haven’t decided on a final resting place, this program may help. To learn more, please call our office today at 757.565.2006 or use our 24/7 Contact Form.
For application assistance, you can also visit the official FEMA COVID-19 Funeral Assistance page or call them at 844-684-6333 (or 800-462-7585 for TTY). Although we can help you gather the required documentation, FEMA does not allow anyone to submit documentation on your family’s behalf. The only one who can register you for FEMA Funeral Assistance is you.
SCAM Warning
Please note that FEMA has received reports of scammers reaching out to people offering to register them for funeral benefits. This is not allowed and FEMA will never contact you before you register for the program.
As this situation evolves, we will update this page accordingly. Our staff remains committed to serving the Williamsburg community, especially during these unprecedented times. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
